Someone is sending emails from my email account to everyone in my contact list. How do I find out and stop this from happening?

Same thing happened to me four days ago 2/17/10 . Spam from my email account to my entire yahoo address book. It was different urls, but a lot of them were to sell Viagra. The spam mail showed up in my Sent folder. No plain virus on my calculator together with it does inevitably seem a hacker discovered my open sesame or has since done anything with it. I talked to lowbrow technical service who uttered yahoo mail servers were attacked and numerous accounts compromised. I pressed further plus wouldn't give me any more info. I asked what I could do to prevent this from happening again and he said there was nothing I could do. I give birth to since changed my password added to deleted important business contacts from my talk book as they are stored on those apparently insecure vulgarian servers. Yahoo will not give me any more answers, they should acquiesce publicly if there was a security breach.

I am still having this problem. Most recent occurrence just this past week. If anybody has heard from our beloved Yahoo as why this is still happening please chime in. I have had to delete my entire address book and now use Gmail to send emails.

the same thing is happening to me!! omg I cant figure it out; i changed my password and everything and its still happening...its hard to delete it cause i have alot of important stuff in there. UGH! let me know if u find a solution..ill keep digging around too and ill let u know.

Someone has hacked into my address book and is using my yahoo address to send cialis and viagra ads?

how do i circumvent this, do i have to get a new yahoo address or can i get a new screen name. and have my mail rerouted there?

Can you get into your account? If so, change your password to something long, and something that has numbers and odd characters like # and $ in it. If not, did you try contacting Yahoo? If you usually use the same computer to access your e-mail, yahoo might be able to help you. They can tell that you're contacting them from the computer you usually use your e-mail address on, and that the guy using it now isn't accessing your e-mail from a place you usually do. I do agree with the first answer, but at the same time spammers have many ways to spoof your email. That is they can make it seem like it's coming from you or your friends. I occasionally gets emails selling such items apparently from myself. So it doesn't mean your account has hacked.

I've had the same problem. First you need to remove all the names from the address book, that way the trojan/virus cannot continue sending emails purporting to come from you. In the long run you might be better getting a new email address because your old one has now been compromised. And it will be sold on to other spammers
