I received a spam email for Viagra from someone who had used my email address to send the spam to me. How can some person get my email address grate on nerves practice and send emails missing as spam and what can I do to stop it? I have all up-to-date security systems on my computer.

Anyone with a separate email program can use any name or address for the FROM address. I could change my name and address in seconds in Thunderbird to anything. It in no way indicates a problem. Spammers do it to keep mail from being returned to them. There is no way for you to stop it. If spam is being sent to people in your contact list it indicates that someone got into your account and took the list. They no longer need your account to use the list. You can change the password to try to keep it from happening again. Closing your account will not stop the spam. It will stop on it own.₪ ʎəɿʞɹɐq ₪

Change your password ASAP if you are worried about it, also check your sent messages to make sure your account isn't being used to send spam with, if it is then make sure you change your security settings on your email, regularly clear cookies, do NOT auto-save your passwords. This should solve, if not reduce the chances of this happening again
